Bind your hair into a bundle, twist 3-4 times in a clockwise (right turn)
direction. Hold the twisted hair bundle with your left hand.
Hold the Kanzashi with your right hand and insert it [at a location about
3/4" (2 cm.) away from your scalp] into the hair bundle from top to
bottom.
Move your left hand a bit closer to your head while you hold the hair
bundle.
Take the tip of the Kanzashi and pass it through the top of your left
hand, and rotate it about 180 degrees to the right until it faces in a
top left direction.
Make the Kanzashi rise slowly by taking the tip diagonally from the top
left as though you are hooking it on to the skin.
Like that, push in the Kanzashi diagonally down the right side along
your skin and you're done!!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What are the differences between a one shaft Kanzashi and a two shaft Kanzashi?
You can use a one shaft Kanzashi by wrapping and securing it, or by inserting it into a hair ball bundle.
The two shaft Kanzashi is the type that you only insert into a hair ball bundle. * While you could arrange your hair with only a two shaft Kanzashi, it is possible for the forked area to warp or break if you do so.
Also, please note that with a two shaft Kanzashi you cannot adjust the direction of the Kanzashi after insertion.
Q. How do you arrange your hair with a Kanzashi?
On this page, we recommend ways to arrange that are easy to put on in your daily life, and even look smart and attractive.
Q. About how long does hair have to be to arrange?
If your hair is at least shoulder-length (can be tied with a rubber band), you can arrange your hair with just a Kanzashi.
And, even if you have short hair, you can create a small ball with a hair pin or something like it and then insert into the ball to decorate.
For the U-pin type one, you can also use it by retaining it with a hair pin.
Q. When you arrange your hair with only a Kanzashi, does the selection of the shaft length depend on the volume of hair?
For customers who have higher hair volume, since the hair gets thick when it is arranged, we recommend a relatively longer shaft.
For customers who have lower hair volume, the length of the shaft does not matter.
And for people who have long hair, if the Kanzashi length is at least about 4 3/4" (12 cm.), you can arrange it good enough.
Q. Isn't there an easier way to put on a Kanzashi?
You can enjoy the Kanzashi just as well by inserting it into a hair ball bundle you simply make with a rubber band or hair pin.
When doing so, you can get a more natural finish if you make the ball with backcombed hair, in which case you can use the hair to hide the rubber band or hair pin.
And, it is also lovely to put it on by changing the spot where the hair is arranged or by combining several Kanzashi, so please try different methods.
Q. Which Kanzashi shaft, wooden or metal, is easier to use?
Customers who have low hair volume can use both wooden shafts and metal shafts.
For customers who have high hair volume, we recommend wooden shafts over metal shafts because they are not as slippery and you can better arrange them.
Q. Can Men put on a Kanzashi? And, do you recommend any uses besides putting in the hair?
Of course Men can also use them. Men especially prefer Kanzashi with subdued colors and calmer impressions.
And, it's lovely to place in a suit pocket in place of a handkerchief, or use it as a stole retainer.
Q. Does the strength vary by the type of Kanzashi shaft?
Yes. The strength of the shafts can vary depending on the characteristics of the materials used.
There are ones that are easier to break or bend, so please control the force you apply to the shaft.
Q. How strong are Kanzashi?
While we take great care to utilize shafts that are the strongest possible, if unreasonable force is applied, it can cause bending or breakage.
And, as with the shaft, pulling at or applying strong force to the decorative part of the Kanzashi can also cause damage. Please be careful with unreasonable handling.
Q. What part of the Kanzashi should I hold to make inserting it easier?
Please hold the Kanzashi at a spot a bit higher than the center of the shaft. There, you can more easily adjust the force, and you can insert without putting unnecessary strain on the shaft or decoration.
Q. How am I supposed to remove the Kanzashi?
Without pulling the decoration, please push the tip of the Kanzashi out the opposite direction and make it rise, then remove it by holding the shaft.
If you pull on the decoration, it may cause damage.
Q. My Kanzashi is broken. Can I get it repaired?
Yes. Basically, we can repair it.
However, please feel free to consult with us first because the repair fee and time can vary depending on the Kanzashi type and condition of damage.
